Stephen Airs First Ad Of Campaign; Focuses On Record of Cutting Spending
MANCHESTER, NH- John Stephen, Republican candidate for Governor, today launched his first television commercial of his campaign this morning. The advertisement, called “Delivers,” highlights Stephen’s fiscally conservative record as a reformer who has a track record of making the tough decisions on cutting government spending to deliver results.
“Across the state, I have heard a clear and simple message from the voters – that our state spending is out of control and it needs to stop," Stephen said. "I'll cut spending and balance our state budget without accounting gimmicks, more borrowing or increased taxes. I'll do that so we can start getting our state's economy on the move again by cutting the highest state business tax rate in the nation and encouraging job creation. However, none of this can happen until we get our state budget under control. That’s why I’m running for Governor.”
The release of the commercial comes in the midst of a strong week for Stephen’s gubernatorial campaign. On Sunday, Stephen received the endorsement of the New Hampshire Union Leader. Yesterday, Foster’s Daily Democrat endorsed Stephen’s candidacy for the Republican nomination and the New Hampshire Union Leader reported that in recent campaign filings, Stephen had nearly $50,000 more in cash available to spend that Governor John Lynch, despite a $500,000 loan that Lynch made to his campaign.
“I couldn't be prouder of the team we've assembled in this campaign," Stephen added. "Our extraordinary numbers of donors, volunteers and activists are truly committed to restoring New Hampshire values of low taxes, limited government and economic prosperity back to Concord. They know that the path of 24% spending hikes over the past two budgets, fueled by 84 new or increased taxes and fees, is the wrong direction for our state, and they are working with me to deliver the type of state government that will help to promote growth and create good jobs.”
