Stephen Campaign Responds To Lynch’s Efforts To Waste State Resources On Frivolous State Investigation
MANCHESTER, NH- John Stephen’s campaign for Governor offered the following statement in response to Governor Lynch’s press release calling for an investigation of campaign finance law. The Stephen campaign reconfirmed again today with the Secretary of State’s Office, who manages campaign finance compliance issues, that its campaign practices fall within state law.
“If Governor Lynch spent as much time focusing on the line items in the state’s budget as he has on John Stephen’s campaign finance report, we would not be looking at a 24% increase in spending over the past two budgets with 84 tax and fee increases,” said Stephen spokesman Greg Moore. “If John Lynch had bothered to walk across the hall to the Secretary of State’s office instead of filing frivolous investigations, he’d know that that his accusations are meritless.”
“At a time when the Attorney General’s office is strapped for cash, the last thing they need is a Governor who is committed to wasting state resources,” Moore added. “We need a governor who will look to protect the taxpayers, not throw their money down the drain on pointless investigations. It’s no wonder that under John Lynch’s leadership we are staring at an $800 million budget deficit.”
